Sunshine On Leith is based on the sensational stage hit of the same name, featuring music by pop-folk band The Proclaimers.  
 
The film follows the stories of ex-squaddies Davy (George MacKay, Private Peaceful) and Ally (Kevin Guthrie), who have to relearn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan. They struggle to live a life outside the army and to deal with the everyday problems of family, jobs and relationships.  
 
Previously better known as a charismatic and engaging actor, director (and Bugsy Malone alumnus) Dexter Fletcher imaginatively reinvents the genre of urban social realism in this heartwarming, upbeat musical, which boasts spectacular song and dance on the streets of Edinburgh and a top-notch cast.
