Our screening of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug 3D on Tuesday 28 January will be accompanied by a free pre-film Q&A with actor Adam Brown, who plays the dwarf Ori in all three parts of the film adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy trilogy.

The question and answer session will give audience members the chance to get first-hand insights into the escape from the Great Goblin, the Book of Mazarbul, and the quest to return to the Lonely Mountain. Adam will be talking about his experiences over the course of the mammoth 18-month shoot in New Zealand, during which all three parts of the trilogy were filmed back-to-back, and he lived next door to James Nesbitt (Bofur) on one side and Orlando Bloom (Legolas) on the other.

Co-founder of comedy theatre company Plested and Brown, whose productions have included Edinburgh Fringe hits The Reconditioned Wife Show and Flamingo Flamingo Flamingo, Adam also played Oswald Potter in CBBC’s ChuckleVision

The second film in Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the Hobbit trilogy, The Desolation Of Smaug sees the return of Martin Freeman as nervy adventurer Bilbo Baggins, Ian McKellen as the wizard Gandalf and Cate Blanchett as the elf Galadriel, with Freeman’s Sherlock co-star Benedict Cumberbatch providing the voice of the wicked dragon Smaug.

Adam Brown’s pre-screening Q&A begins at 8.15pm on Tuesday 28 January, with The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug 3D following at 8.30pm.
