Félicité is a proud, free-willed woman working as a bar-singer in Kinshasa, capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her life is thrown into turmoil after her son is badly injured in a motorcycle accident. Lacking the funds to pay for an essential emergency operation to save his leg, she takes to the streets of the vibrant city to find help. Approaching family members, friends, and most daringly a wealthy local landowner, the odds seem stacked against her.

However, Félicité is a tough, tenacious woman determined to do all she can to help her child. This is a warm, but raw and unsentimental portrait of a community, filled with glorious music, capturing the sights and sounds of a complex city in compelling, dream-like fashion.
